If you are preparing for any JKSSB exam this year, the single most important document you need to know about is the official Tentative Annual Examination Calendar for 2026. Released by JKSSB on December 18, 2025, this calendar maps out which exams are expected in which months — giving every aspirant a roadmap to plan their preparation around.
This post breaks down the full calendar in plain language, what has already happened, what is still coming, and how to use this information smartly.
What Is the JKSSB Exam Calendar?
Every year, JKSSB releases a tentative examination calendar covering all the non-gazetted post recruitments that are scheduled for that year. The 2026 calendar was issued under Notice No. JKSSB-COEQEXAM/UT/10/2022-04 and covers exams running from February through August 2026.
Two things to understand about this calendar:
It is tentative, not final. The months indicated are windows, not confirmed dates. JKSSB releases a separate notification for each exam with the exact date — usually 15 to 30 days before the exam.
Admit cards come 7 days before the exam. This is JKSSB’s standard practice across all recruitments. Do not wait for the admit card to start preparing — by the time it arrives, you should already be in revision mode.

Key Facts About How JKSSB Conducts Exams
OMR-based format: Most JKSSB written exams use OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) sheets. You darken the correct option with a pen. There is no online exam — it is a physical paper in an examination centre.
Negative marking applies: Standard negative marking is 0.25 per wrong answer for most posts. The SI exam has 0.5 per wrong answer. Always check the specific notification for the post you are appearing for.
Rescheduling happens: JKSSB has a history of postponing exams due to administrative or legal reasons. The Junior Assistant exam, for instance, was moved from April 5 to April 19. Always verify the current date on the official website before your exam.
Exam centres are in J&K only: All JKSSB exams are conducted within Jammu & Kashmir. Centres are typically in both Jammu and Srinagar, with some exams having district-level centres.
How to Use This Calendar for Your Preparation
Identify your target exam and work backwards. If JKPSI is in June and you are reading this in May, you have roughly four weeks left. That is not the time to start from scratch — it is time to revise, solve mock tests, and focus on your weakest sections.
Set calendar reminders for the month before each exam. JKSSB typically releases the exact date and admit card notice about 2–4 weeks before the exam. Set a phone reminder for the start of that month to check the official website daily.
Do not depend on the calendar for the exact date. Multiple exams have been rescheduled in 2026. Always verify from jkssb.nic.in directly. This calendar is for planning, not for confirmed dates.
Apply for multiple posts if you are eligible. Several recruitments run simultaneously in 2026. If your qualifications meet the criteria for more than one post, apply to all of them. One application does not affect another.
Where to Get Admit Cards
JKSSB admit cards are available exclusively at jkssb.nic.in. They are released exactly 7 days before the examination date. You will need your registration number and date of birth to download.
Do not rely on third-party websites for admit card downloads — always get it directly from the official JKSSB portal to avoid fake or incorrect documents.
